Ultrasonic Inspection instruments are used by Maintenance Technicians to detect many common problems in industry today. Bearing failure or lubrication problems, leaking valves and cylinder by pass, steam monitoring, air leaks or vacuum leaks just to name a few of the uses of these versatile instruments.

To get the full benefits of such an inspection program we offer a one day (6 hrs) training course. For this course we use two Superior Signal instruments (www.superiorsignal.com), the VPE 2000 and the VPX-WR. With the use of Power Point Presentation and a short video the participants will learn the following.

• What is Ultrasound
• The basic Principles and Characteristics of Sound
• Translation of Ultrasonic Frequencies
• Airborne Leak Detection
• Internal Leak Detection valve/cylinder leaks, steam trap test
• Electrical Applications (Arcing)

We then show the participants how to integrate the technology into a Condition based maintenance system. How to set up a basic trend using the digital display, and how it can be used in conjunction with Vibration Analysis.

Throughout this course the participants are encouraged to handle the instruments available to them because now that the formal part of the program is over we proceed to the plant floor, where everyone can experiment in using the instruments in their normal working environment.
